Alexander Twilight Portrait Added to State House Collection

The Alexander Twilight portrait will occur on Thursday, May 5, 2022 in the State House lobby (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM). A reception will be held right outside the big main doors on the portico.

The unveiling reveals for the public the much anticipated portrait commissioned by the Friends of the State House and largely funded by The National Life Group. A major addition to the State House collections of art, the painting honors Twilight and tells his extraordinary story as visionary educator, minister and the first person of African descent to serve in Vermont’s Legislature in 1836.
